Family Message May 1st

Dear Horace Mann Families,

 Thank you for your patience and support during this time of school dismissal. We miss our students and are dedicated to the teaching and learning of each of them. We also know that the health and safety of our community is our utmost priority. This message is meant to provide an update on school dismissal packet drop off and pick up scheduled for Monday May 4th.

  1. Governor Gary Herbert has directed that schools remain on school dismissal through the end of the school year, May 22nd, to prevent the spread of COVID-19. 

  2. Packet Drop Off/Pick Up

Monday, May 4th, we will be collecting previous packets and distributing our last at home learning materials/packets for our 1-6th grade students.  You can drop your completed packets off in the red bins in front of the school. Kindergarten packets will be distributed and previous packets will be collected on Tuesday May 5th, as our teachers would like to take a picture of each kindergarten student for an end of the year celebration.  All 5th and 6th grade students will need to come this time to pick up materials their teachers have put together for an end of the year assignment/activity.  Our 5th and 6th grade classes will continue working on-line through Google Classroom and their assignments can be found there.  If you have a student in 5th or 6th grade and need or have requested a paper packet, those will also be ready for you to pick up on Monday.  

 At your scheduled time, please bring in completed packets and pick up new materials.

The schedule for pick up on Monday, May 4th is by last name and is as follows:

A - D     8:00 - 9:10 

M - P     11:30-12:40

E - H     9:10-10:20

Q - S     12:40-1:50

I - L      10:20-11:30

T - Z      1:50 - 3:00

  1. Kindergarten Packet Drop Off/Pick Up and Picture Taking - Tuesday May 5th

At your scheduled time, please bring in completed packets and pick up new materials. We will also be taking a picture of each kindergarten student to be used for an end of year celebration.

The schedule for packet drop off, packet pick up and picture taking on Tuesday, May 5th is by your student’s classroom teacher and is as follows:

Jennings  9:00-10:00

Leavitt   10:00-11:00

Williams 11:00-12:00

  1. FEEDBACK SURVEY - Just a reminder to please fill out the weekly survey, either electronically or by paper/pencil.  This feedback will help us know how to better support your student.  A link will be sent out by your child’s teacher on Friday.  If your student received a paper packet of materials to support home learning, you will find a feedback survey in the packet from your child’s teacher (but you can choose to complete the survey online). You may drop it off on Monday, May 11th and May 18th.  There will be a bin located at the Grab-N-Go station in front of the school from 8:30 - 12:00.  We appreciate your feedback and look forward to hearing back from you.

  2. GRAB-N-GO BREAKFAST AND LUNCH 

    1. Breakfast and lunch may be picked up from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm for children 0-18 years old. 

    2. Drive-thru is recommended. Meals will be handed through the window. Please follow traffic patterns.

    3. Walk-ups are also welcome.  Please park in the church parking lot and walk to the front of the building to pick-up your meals.

  3. If you do not have internet access at home to access supplemental resources,  Comcast is offering 2 months of free internet for qualifying families. Check your eligibility at:

 We will be reaching out to you as we get closer to the end of the school year to update you on when we will dropping off our last packets, returning any materials that your child may have checked out (Chromebook, textbooks and/or library books) and picking up personal items that may have been left during this school dismissal time period.
